How Much Material is Required For a 100 Square Feet RCC Slab?

Material required for 100 sq ft rcc slab is 475.2 kg cement, 17.5 cft fine aggregate, 35 cft coarse aggregate and 285 kg steel reinforcement for a slab of 4 inch thickness with M20 grade (1:15:3 ratio) of concrete. Read the calculation below to understand in detail.

Material is Required for a 100 Sq. Ft. RCC Slab

Materials Required for a 100 Sq Ft RCC Slab (5 Inch)

To calculate the quantity of cement, sand, coarse aggregate and steel required for a 100 square feet slab, we have some requirements and considerations in the slab.

Requirements and Considerations for the Slab

  • Size of Slab = 100 Square Feet
  • Thickness of Slab = 5 Inch
  • Grade of Concrete Used = M20

Volume of Slab (RCC Work) Calculation

Volume of RCC Slab = Area of Slab × Thickness of Slab
= 100 Square Feet × (5 Inch/12) Feet
41.67 cft
Hence, Total Volume of RCC Work
= 41.67 cft (Wet Concrete).

Dry Volume of Concrete Calculation

  • Ratio of Concrete (M20) = 1:1.5:3 (Cement : Sand : Coarse Aggregate)
  • Shrinkage Factor = 1.54 (54 % extra for dry volume)
  • Total Concrete Ratio (1:1.5:3) = 1+1.5+3 = 5.5
  • Total Volume of Dry Concrete = 1.54 × 41.67 cft = 64.17 cft

Volume of Cement in RCC Work
= (Ratio of Cement/ Total Ratio of Concrete) × Total Volume of Dry Concrete
= (1/5.5) × 64.17 cft
11.67 cft or 0.33 m³
Since, density of cement is 1440 m³/kg
So, weight of cement is 0.33 m³ × 1440 kg/m³ = 475.2 kg

Volume of Sand (Fine Aggregate) in RCC Work
= (Ratio of Sand/ Total Ratio of Concrete) × Total Volume of Dry Concrete
= (1.5/5.5) × 64.17 cft
17.5 cft

Volume of Coarse Aggregate in RCC Work
= (Ratio of Aggregate/ Total Ratio of Concrete) × Total Volume of Dry Concrete
= (3/5.5) × 64.17
35 cft

Weight of Steel in RCC Work
(Considering volume of Steel is 2% of total volume of concrete)
= 64.17 × 2 /100
= 1.283 cft or 0.0363 m³
Density of Steel is 7850 kg/m³
Weight of Steel = 7850 × 0.0363 = 285 kg

Material Required for a 100 Square Feet 5 Inch RCC Slab

  • Total Cement Required = 475.2 kg
  • Total Sand Required = 17.5 cft
  • Total Aggregate Required = 35 cft
  • Total Weight of Steel Required = 285 kg

Note: This quantity just for reference and it is based on above assumptions and it may vary depending upon material type and other design changes.

Materials Required for a 100 Sq Ft RCC Slab (4 Inch)

To calculate the quantity of cement, sand, coarse aggregate and steel required for a 100 square feet slab, we have some requirements and considerations in the slab. In this, we are considering 4 inch thickness of the slab.

Requirements and Considerations for the Slab

  • Size of Slab = 100 Square Feet
  • Thickness of Slab = 4 Inch
  • Grade of Concrete Used = M20

Volume of Slab (RCC Work) Calculation

Volume of RCC Slab
= Area of Slab × Thickness of Slab
= 100 Square Feet × (4 Inch/12) Feet
33.33 cft
Hence, Total Volume of RCC Work
= 33.33 cft (Wet Concrete).

Dry Volume of Concrete Calculation

  • Ratio of Concrete (M20) = 1:1.5:3 (Cement : Sand : Coarse Aggregate)
  • Shrinkage Factor = 1.54 (54 % extra for dry volume)
  • Total Concrete Ratio (1:1.5:3) = 1+1.5+3 = 5.5
  • Total Volume of Dry Concrete = 1.54 × 33.33 cft = 51.33 cft

Volume of Cement in RCC Work

= (Ratio of Cement/ Total Ratio of Concrete) × Total Volume of Dry Concrete
= (1/5.5) × 51.33 cft
= 9.33 cft or 0.264 m³
Since, density of cement is 1440 m³/kg
So, weight of cement is 0.264 m³ × 1440 kg/m³ = 380.2 kg

Volume of Sand (Fine Aggregate) in RCC Work
= (Ratio of Sand/ Total Ratio of Concrete) × Total Volume of Dry Concrete
= (1.5/5.5) × 51.33 cft
= 14 cft

Volume of Coarse Aggregate in RCC Work
= (Ratio of Aggregate/ Total Ratio of Concrete) × Total Volume of Dry Concrete
= (3/5.5) × 51.33
= 28 cft

Weight of Steel in RCC Work
Considering volume of Steel is 2% of total volume of concrete.
= 51.33 × 2 /100
= 1.027 cft or 0.0291 m³
Density of Steel is 7850 kg/m³
Weight of Steel = 7850 × 0.0291 = 228 kg

Material Required for a 100 Square Feet 4 Inch RCC Slab

  • Total Cement Required = 380.2 kg
  • Total Sand Required = 14 cft
  • Total Aggregate Required = 28 cft
  • Total Weight of Steel Required = 228 kg

Note: This quantity just for reference and it is based on above assumptions and it may vary depending upon material type and other design changes.
