Plastering Calculation in Square Feet: Quantity of Cement Sand

0
Plastering is a way to make surfaces better. It helps them stick well and stay that way even when the weather changes. It's important that it's not too expensive, that it's strong and lasts a long time. Plaster can be put on in any weather and it stops water from getting in. It's easy to work with, and it's good for buildings. In this blog post we will see what is plastering?, plastering techniques and plastering calculation in square feet calculator.

Plastering Calculation in Square Feet: Quantity of Materials For 100 Sq Ft

The plastering calculation in square feet can be helpful to know the quantity of materials. As plastering involves using a plaster mixture (lime or cement concrete, sand, and water) to cover uneven surfaces during construction. This process safeguards masonry from weather, particularly rain, ensuring stability and cohesion among bricks or stones while safeguarding joints.

Plastering Calculation in Square Feet

Plastering Calculation in Square Feet

The plastering calculation involves the quantity of sand and cement in mortar. Thickness of plastering ranges from 10 mm to 20 mm.

Surface Type Vs Mortar Thickness

  • Plain side of brick masonry work - 10 mm to 12 mm thick cement mortar plastering.
  • Rough side of brick masonry work (4 inch or 9 inch) - 15 mm thick cement mortar plastering.
  • Dado (Lower part of a wall, below the dado rail and above the skirting board) - 18 mm thick cement mortar plastering.
Note: 20 mm thick cement mortar plastering is used for some special design requirements or for the more irregular surfaces. In this the surface is plastering is done in two layers.

Ratio of Mortar Vs Surface Type

1:4 Mortar Ratio - Ceiling Surface
1:5 Mortar Ratio - Wall Surface
1:6 Mortar Ratio - Wall Surface
Note: Use clean sand and clean water for durable plastering, also you can add waterproofing additives based on your requirements.

Waste Factor and Shrinkage Factor (Dry Volume to Wet Volume)

In the masonry work or plastering work we consider extra 20% wastage and extra 35% as shrinkage factor (dry volume to wet volume). Otherwise we directly add 54% extra (i.e. 1.54).
