Here you can find the perfect answer of "how many blocks are in 1 cubic meter" with standard size of block and some other requirements in the wall. So, read the complete post to understand the concept.

How Many Concrete Blocks are in a Cubic Meter?

There are 63 concrete blocks in a cubic meter when the size of concrete block is 16''×8''×8'' with 12 mm thick mortar layer in masonry work. See the below calculations for paver blocks.

How Many Concrete Blocks Are in 1 Cubic Meter?

How Many Concrete Blocks Are in 1 Cubic Meter?

To calculate the number of concrete blocks in 1 cubic meter, we have two situations, first one is without mortar and second one is with mortar. We have some following consideration which required in the calculation of block.
  • Volume of concrete work= 1 m³
  • Size of concrete block= 16''×8''×8'' or 400 mm × 200 mm × 200 mm
  • Thickness of mortar layer= 12 mm (generally, 10 mm to 15 mm)

Volume of a Single Concrete Block

We need to calculate volume of a single block with and without mortar.

Volume of a Single Block (Without Mortar)
= Length of Block × Height of Block × Width of Block
= 400 mm × 200 mm × 200 mm
= 16000000 mm³ or 0.016 m³

Volume of a Single Block (With Mortar)
= (Length of block + Thickness of mortar) × (Height of block + Thickness of mortar) + (Width of block + Thickness of mortar)
= (400 mm + 12 mm) × (200 mm + 12 mm) × (200 mm)
= 412 mm × 212 mm × 200 mm
= 17468800 mm³ or 0.0175 m³

How Many Concrete Blocks are in 1 Cubic Meter (Without Mortar)?

Calculation for number of concrete block in 1 cubic meter without mortar is generally used for storage purpose.

Total Number of Concrete Blocks in 1 Cubic Meter Without Mortar
= Total volume of block work/ Volume of a single block without mortar
= 1 m³/0.016 m³
= 62.5 Concrete Blocks, (Say 63 Concrete Blocks).

Final Result
Total number of concrete blocks required to cover one cubic meter is 63 nos.

(Note: We are not including mortar thickness at both sides as front and back parts of block work because it is extra work, covered while plastering. if we include this thickness, the entire calculation will be wrong. See the picture below.)

How Many Concrete Blocks are in 1 Cubic Meter (With Mortar)?

Calculation for number of concrete block per cubic meter with mortar is generally used for block masonry work.

Total Number of Concrete Blocks in 1 Cubic Meter With Mortar
= Total volume of block work/ Volume of a single block with mortar
= 1 m³/0.0175 m³
= 57.1 Blocks, (Say 57 Concrete Blocks).

Taking 5% wastage of concrete blocks during the masonry work, the total number of blocks would be 57 + 10%  of 57 = 62.7 Concrete Blocks, Say 63 Concrete Blocks.

Final Result
Total number of concrete blocks required for per meter cube is 63 nos including 5% wastage.

Note: It's important to note that this calculation is an estimate and may vary depending on factors such as the pattern of the brickwork, the size of the mortar joints and the amount of waste generated during construction. It's always a good idea to order a few extra bricks than what you think you'll need in the construction.
